Matthieu Ricard discusses the habits of happiness. Answer AT LEAST one of the following questions. What role does suffering play in contrast to happiness and must we have one to have the other? Why do we (as Americans) need recognition or gratitude from others to bestow kindness? What habit might you try to incorporate in to your life (based on this lecture)?

How much of our happiness is hard-wired? How much is learned? Up until now, we have focused on our own happiness. Now I would like you to consider where you learned your happiness... from family? friends? on your own? Please ponder the people and objects in your life. Observe them. Think about growing up and how others acted? Were there close family members that were perpetually happy or miserable? Describe these observation in memory or currently. How did and does it impact how you find happiness, joy or gratitude.
